Moth invasion

tpilk Jun 18, 2003 11:22 PM

This time of year Colorado is invaded by "Miller" moths. I had one fly into my beardie tank and those two (my 4 month olds) went nuts. The moth didn't last 2 seconds. Other than a little wing dust on their noses (from the tug of war), they seemed to do just fine with their snack. Is this a "safe" treat?

I consider any insect that is raised in an uncontrolled environment to be a risk to my dragons. That moth could've landed in a recently pesticide-dusted crop then flew into your beardies cage. Although the chances are slim - why risk it? I know it was an accident that the moth got in, but I would put a screen on top of their cage to prevent future invasions. Just my two cents worth. Glad they enjoyed the chase though.

That's a good point. Actually, I do have a screen cover on the tank, I was removing some leftover, dried up greens when the moth flew in (lots of light to attract them). Thanks, I'll stick to the safe treats.
