Do you think this tub is too big....

for an adult Cal King or adult Mex Blk King?

53lx21wx15h

My kids are still young and little, but I've been looking for a tub w/ a bit of height to move them into when they get a bit bigger. Other than this size, the other size I've found is 40x16x6 (something like that). I like that length, but want more height and wasn't sure if the 53x21x15 was too big - in other words would be wasted space.

From what information I have gathered from books and the internet king snakes are primarily terrestrial but from first hand accounts they also like to climb. From what I have witnessed with my own king snake is that while primarily terrestrial they also like to climb on braches or rest on them BUT he has never climbed all the way UP the tree branch. This leads me to believe that king snakes need more width and length in an enclosure then height/depth.

Now granted I am NOT an expert at all and this is just my opinion of what I have witnessed with my king snake. I feel that the information in the books is certainly correct and that king snakes are a primarily terrestrial snake.I do feel they like to climb and perch on some branches once in awhile but are definately not arboreal or even semi-arboreal. I think that tub would definately have a lot of wasted space but would be perfect for say a ratsnake.
