Lou
I try to change my beardies salads everyday. Right now I am feeding 6 dragons...
Every day they get:
Dole Spring Mix or equivelant (with spinach removed)
RepCal juv. pellets
2 vegetables (green beans, squash, or cactus)
1 or 2 fruits (papaya, mango, apple, strawberries, raspberries, canteloupe)
Fresh dandelion flowers and stems (when available)
Supplements:
I used to supplement with sprinkling calcium powder (I use Miner-al) on the salads every other day. But now I'm reading (www.reptilerap.com) that supplementing that often may not be necessary. So I've cut back to sprinkling calcium on their salads twice a week and usuing a multivitamin (Herptivite) once a week.
This is my staple diet. I add or subtract from it to vary their diet and add in fruits and veggies that are in season.

Where do you get the cactus to feed your beardies? I noticed on your website you say it's a great staple and I'd like to try it, but I just haven't seen it anywhere!

2.0 bearded dragons (Ocho / Domo-kun)
0.1 kingsnake (Rio)
1.0 ferret (Playstation)
1.0 cat (Wally)
0.1 dog (Tima)
I'm not Veronica, but they carrie nopales (prickly pear cactus pads) at my local grocery store. It is a popular ingredient in many Mexican food dishes. You may have to go to a specialty grocer if you aren't in an area where Mexican food is "big." They sell both the nopales whole and in bags, chopped up. Any prickly pear is edible, though spineless varieties (naturally) are easier to deal with. If it grows in your area you can collect it, despine it, and feed it. Just like with any other collected vegetation, however, you need to make sure it comes from an area that is not sprayed with insecticides.

Are you kidding? I live in Texas, mexican food is HUGE here! In fact, now I'm thinking of how good a cheese enchilada sounds.
mmmmm.. cheesy enchiladas...
Huh? Right! Anyways. I've never seen cactus in the Tom Thumbs I shop at, but I may not have been looking hard enough. I'm sure I know plenty of mexican grocery stores I can check out if I don't find it. Thanks!

I vary their diet as much as possible. This is my current schedue for adults
Rep Cal Pellets soaked in water, T-rex Dragon dust on Salad,
limited Worms, Crix, Roaches
Salad – always greens occasionally mix with kale, squash, carrots… Best list on the net is at beautifuldragons.com
Since I offer complete food sources daily I do not additionally suppliment.
Monday – Worms in salad
Tuesday - salad and/or pellets
Wednesday - Crix salad and/or pellets
Thursday - salad and/or pellets
Friday – Pellets
Saturday – roaches Salad
Sunday - salad and/or pellets
I start with a base of salad and add pellets on top. If they ignore the salad I will skip it for a day or two.
you can use ice cubes to keep salad fresh and add hydration or just mist the salad in the afternoon.
If Walmart is lowering prices every day, how come nothing is free yet?
