7-8 mealies enough for 3-4month old?

8tay8 Jun 10, 2004 01:12 PM

hi, um i recently got a new little leo im guessing she is about 3-4 months because that was the size of my other leo at that age. i know its good to feed them as much as they will eat, but she usually eats 7-8 every night, so i started gutloading 8 for her every night. does this sound alright?

yup, that's enough.

but what do you mean gutloading 8 a night? Usually you just gutload all your insects, all the time. Just wondering if you have some revolutionary technique

I keep all the mealworms in the refridgerator until at night i put the ammount of mealworms that my leos will eat the next day. so they are gutloaded for 24 hours at a time. that way the mealworms that i dont feed will be in the fridge and they wont go bad.

sorry if this was a little confusing, if you have any questions then just ask. thanks for your help.

oooh ok, and none die on you?
i leave mine out

i'm trying REALLY HARD to get a colony going, but all i get is beetles and no mini mealworms. How long do i have to bloody wait?

yeah i heard that making mealworm colonys is pretty hard. i actually just go to my local petstore bout every 7-10 days to pick up some mealworms. i get 100 count in this little container. works pretty good with me. i used to think about breeding mealworms, like your tryin to do, but then i remembered they have to turn into beetles whitch i HATE.

I think it was about a month after the beetles died that I started seeing baby mealworms at the bottom of the substrate. And then it took a few more weeks before they were big enough for me to feed to the leos.

hmm crappy
i bought like a 1000 to start it off, i've still got tons left. but jeez this is taking along time, the beetles are living in luxury i was thinking about playing them barry white soon to get them in the "mood"

:D
anyhue thanks for the info
