I have a funny story I'll share about a similar experience. I've had a eastern milksnake in my collection for about 2 years. My daughter has named her checkers (because of her belly pattern.) One day I go in her box to check on her and I'm bummed to find her not there. She's always been one of my favorites and I couldn't believe she was gone. The other problem is my wife has two cats (not good for escaped snakes). Well, two months go by and I haven't seen a sign of her (and I've searched numerous times for her.) One night I go to give my other eastern some fresh water and I was using a flashlight (in my own bedroom because my wife was sleeping. Don't I flash the light on my other eastern's box and who's sitting right on top of her cage but Checkers. I couldn't believe it! I've had a few other snakes get out but always find them within a week or so (if not immediately). A good tip for escaped snakes is to watch your cats behavior closely. They always know where they are hiding and act very cautious in this area. Since I've found her she's been eating like a complete pig and luckily was not found by the cats. Congrats on finding your snake, Scott.
