What do people think of the Hova Bator being offered on LLL Reptile?

zhenchok Jun 10, 2004 02:13 PM

I've heard it's an ok first time incubator, but what do people think of this deal? how many ball eggs can it hold, how reliable is it?, and would this be something you recomend or what's another one that you would recomend? Thanks, Dave.

I got one they sell (not the one on sale right now) but I am still waiting for eggs so I can use it. I was told to get the extentsion ring to give extra room. So if you get one get that also.

For a few clutches per year, I say they work just fine. I use two and have had no problems. As mentioned, get the extension ring and don't buy the turbo model.

I think it's a good deal, you can get about 8-12 in there depending on the sized cups, but that's a good price for it, vermiculite, and 5 cups w/lids.

I don't know if this is recommended or not. But I got a hovabator then took the lid, with the heater etc and put it on a bigger box with a custom hole cut for it. I probably tripled my box size and so far....3 months... it has worked just fine.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

.......................few dollars.i went to the local pet shop, they give away there foam boxes that fish come in.went to st. vinnes and purchased a heating pad for two dollars.added my thermostat, and it's now holding 15 hondo and 8 king eggs.you could get two boxes and cut off the ends and rejoin them for a larger capacity.
