What time of day do your tegus eat?

gatorjake Jun 10, 2004 05:34 PM

My wife just got me a baby Colombian black and white tegu as an aniversary gift last week. I put crickets in every day and they all disappear by the next day, but he never eats in front of me. I've been handling him every day briefly to get him used to me. I know baby colombians are generally jumpy, but has anyone else noticed that they are shy eaters? If so, at what point do they generally calm down and at what time of day do they usually eat? My iguana always eats at around 11AM when she's good and warmed up. Maybe that's why I never see the tegu eat, because I'm always at work during those mid morning hours.
