It hit me today as I watched the ex Russian leader stand with his hand patting the coffin in respect, that the greatest tribute that any leader can have, is to be honored by his enemy. Reagan did more than any other president to bring down the Soviet Union. To have his old nemisis honor him so, is perhaps the most fitting tribute of all.
I know I catch it for being a Reagan "Fan" on this forum, but I hope that the events this week and the talk about him pro and con will make you that are younger, understand...Why he was such a remarkable leader.
It wasn't the office that made him great. It is what he brought to it, that made us all feel better about it.
Having lived thru such a presidency, perhaps...gives us who did, more hope that one day, we will luck into another at least that good.
