Saw a pic of these and like how they look.(phrynohyas resinifictrix) Anyone have any and how hard are they to keep? What are their needs in way of housing and feeding? Thanks in advance for any info or replies.

They are supposedely very easy. HOWEVER I had some difficulty at first. But now I have a succesful trio and they are the best.

The biggest thing is to find a breeder, the ones I had that were originally wc did not make it, for differne reasons. They need a pretty high humidyt around 70%, temps in the high 70's close to high. They start out pretty small but they grow quick. I would recommend at least a 15 tall for a pair of them, obviously the bigger the better. These guys are pretty active so if you can for at least a 20 would even be better. The prefer a nice TALL terrarium. I use fake plants but you can definately do live if need be and a nice water dish that they will occasionally soak in. I feed my 3 week old crickets about 3 each every other day.

These guys are nice b/c they are alot more active then say your retfs or your wtfs. They eat the minute I put food in there and they are awake in the evening hours.

I highly recommend these guys b/c they are adorable, one of my favorite tree frog that I have kept.

Good luck, I hope this helps

Those are so cute. How do you keep up with all the animals and a hubby? Are you anywhere near the midwest? Pat

Do you think there will be any at the Midwest Reptile Show (Indianapolis) later this month? Pat

newbie2frogs Jun 11, 2004 09:56 AM

How big do they get and do they eat small size crickets? Thanks again Pat

I am on the east coast so I don't know about that reptile show but they might. This is a good season for getting frogs so you may want to try at that expo before trying to get them online. This way you can see them. Just make sure you ask that they are cb.

They stay pretty small. Maybe like an 1 1/2 inches, something like that, I am a bad judge of measurement. That is a guess.

When my guess were young I fed them smaller crickets (not pinheads one size up from that. Now they get medium or 3 week old crickets. They are pretty voracious eaters, so if you need to go with a specific size cricket you can probably go smaller I would just feed more of them. My guys get probably about 4-5 medium crix each. And then I do some extra so I don't have to worry about fighting since I have 3 of them.

Good luck and let me know if you get them or if you have any more questions feel free to email me.
