snake identification help? found in Western NC Mountains

we were cleaning up with a weedeater and I noticed this snake. I have 2 black rat snakes but this one snake's pattern I dont recognize.. any help; thanks.. i have 2 pics in my photo album if these dont show up.. please help.. we let it go off into the creek but i would like to know what kind it is just in case we see it again. thanks

another pic... keep in mind this snake was seen in Western North Carolina Mountains near Burnsville, NC.

That is a lot of brown...almost threw me through a loop! It's a garter though.

It's clearly a Eastern Garter Snake. Nice looking one too.
