another clutch of eggs tonight, i was lucky to make one last pass by the Gilas before checking out of PE at 11 pm

i knew this female was due shortly, and we hadn't seen her for a few days. i caught her at the top of her egg burrow, still covering it with soil (eggs were 1.5 feet away at that point, she was right at the surface). she was all deflated and skinny, so i knew this was our moment

i forgot to adjust my camera for the indoor lighting, so colors are a bit funky...

the first pic is actually the second egg, i had already pulled the first. you can see its empty indented spot to the right of the egg in the first pic.

then comes the third egg to the left of the second one. she is a small female, so three eggs it is, and i will sleep happily tonight!

these are about 6 inches from the bottom of the trough, completely buried and covered over, soil/egg temp was 80F.
