Going away for a couple of days

jbmac Jun 19, 2003 02:18 AM

Hi
I may be going away for a couple of days soon. During this time i will not be able to mist my green anole's tank. I usually mist it once in the morning and once in the afternoon. However i am leaving on Friday night, so i will be able to mist it before i go. My dad can mist it on Saturday morning before he leaves for the weekend to go somewhere else. But i might not be coming back until sometime on Sunday. So it would only get one misting on Saturday and possibly only one misting on Sunday. Will the green anole(anolis carolinensis) be alright with only one misting on sat and sun? If not, i was wondering if a bowl of water with a pump, pumping air bubbles into it, to make the water move, would work. Because i know they don't drink from still water. And this would probably help maintain some humidity too. What do you think?

I'm in the same boat. I know there is a drip watering system available. That might help. I was wondering if it would be OK to leave a few extra crickets in the tank? Sorry if I hijacked your message.

There is this cool handy dandy water bottle dripper that you can set on a slow drip, you can get them at pet stores I myself have a gallon one. leaving them a pool of water is fine .. anoles know how to drink out of a puddle.. Here in florida sometimes it dosent rain for a long time, I see the anoles head for hidden pockets of water in plants and rain measure sticks and other things that hold water. do not worry about the anoles not drinking they lived fine before you got them with out the misting system reling on water for the rain and hidden pockets of water... dont worry about the xtra crickets i keep 1,000 in my cage ( my knight anoles hang out during the day and are out at night) the crickets will be fine just make sure they have some food.. some fruit or something to eat so that they wont be tempted to bite on your anoles.. good luck and have fun!
