Cute!
That's part of Grass's & my routine in the mornings. He takes his bath, gets out, climbs up to my shoulder & then we check out the "other ig" in the mirror for a few minutes. He puffs up as big as he possibly can, and does all the head bobs in his repetoire.
It really seems to entertain him, so I've wondered about putting one in his area. But I'm worried that he might think of it as an "intruder" & get upset.
Tank has such beautiful eyes!
awwwe thanks,
mine doesn't puff up though she just lays there and stares at herself
she only stands up when i come near(she still hates me)
i think i might put one in after all!!
Maybe others could reply here, but personally I don't think it is such a good idea to put a mirror in their cage. If the ig were to get angry for any reason and bang or bash into, it could get very hurt, and the glass breaking in a cage is not a good idea.
I would agree but with additional reasons. Iguanas tend to be very territorial. It may look like it's enjoying looking at itself in the mirror but to the iguana it's another lizard he's seeing. After time this can cause a lot of stress.
Also, I've been bitten accidentally while removing a lizard from the bathroom after a bath. He caught a glimpse of that other lizard in the mirror and immediately went into defense mode. I was the closest thing to latch onto.
I wouldn't put a mirror in the enclosure. Your iguana could become aggressive thinking that his/her reflection is another ig and hurt itself "attacking" the other "intruder" in his/her cage.

I'd have to agree with the masses here, Tank may think that "other" ig is an intruder...however, I laughed my A** off at Tank admiring herself.
How funny!
I often wonder how many laughs I would have missed in life had I never gotten Forest & discovered you people & your igs!
Snicker, snicker, snicker.
