Bonita has been hospitalized

Bonita and I drove an hour and a half to the vet today. They sedated and lanced the swelling behind the eye. They found pus and did a tissue stain. They couldn't treat the eye with steroids because it was so swollen they couldn't evaluate the eye for ulcerations. So Bonita is spending the weekend there and is receiving antibiotic (Baytril) injections 2x a day in an effort to reduce the swelling so that the eye can be evaluated on Monday. My bill is already over $100 and I had a certificate for a free exam!!!! On the plus side, the vet said that she is well-hydrated, her color is good, and her body condition is fine. The last I disagree on, she is quite thin for my taste, but I'm not the vet so...

Boy am I glad I have a secret money stash for pet emergencies!

I will keep y'all posted!

Whatever, I will keep her in my critter prayers, sure pray she will be good as NEW real SOON!

Let us know how she does!

The vet is very optimistic! Right now we don't know what started it. Hopefully Monday the swelling around the eye will be down and they can stain for any scratches or ulcerations. I don't really know what caused it, she has had slight eye infections before, but nothing some daily flushing and A/B ointment won't fix. I will definitely keep y'all posted.

I called twice this morning to check on her, they probably think I am neurotic! She is stable and doing well!
