New babies... who wont eat...

domingoakasunday Jun 12, 2004 01:28 AM

I bought 2 two week old ch ball pythons from a show appox. 1.5 months ago. they both refuse to eat. I have force fed eat twice. One however is not my snake and will be transfered to another person. I dont want to give my friend a snake that is not eating as this is her first snake and she will already have enough problems. I have tried everything I have read on here. if I continue to force them will the eventually begin eating? if I let them starve themselves will then eventually get hungry and eat? neither has shown any signs of being sick. they each live in a 10 gallon tank. one side is 82 degrees and the other has a hotspot at 87 (in each tank). they each have a water dish. the humidity stays at 60% everyday. they each have a small hide on each side of the tank. I thank any who can help!

IMHO........At a month and a half/two months old and you have force fed them each twice.......your stress is causing more stress to those babies........you gotta leave 'em alone.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your setup.....make sure their hides are nice and tight....place their cages in a less-trafficing room....only get into the cages every other day to change the water in the bowls....and offer a prey item every 7 to 10 days.

Ya gotta keep your hands off.....IMO...you may have stepped your progress and those babies progress back some.....force feeding should not have even been attempted one time yet.

Try putting them in a smaller cage (shoebox size). I just got a 10 lot of CH females last week, and all but one of them ate the second night I had them, even after being moved all around.

Good luck,
Chad
