about getting snakes to take dead

michiel1981 Jun 12, 2004 02:28 AM

Maybe it was just me who had the luck or it depends on the snake you have. I had some serious trouble trying to get my snakes to take dead prey. But i did manage to get them to take it and i found that it is pretty easy actually... just wait untill the animal goes into shed and after he is shed he is so starved he will most likely take the dead prey and once taken it... you know.... =)

sounds like a method to me. However my female will eat anything as long as i just leave it over night ..she likes her privacy while eating...LOL i have actually switched back and forth from mice and rats awhile back and she didnt hesitate at all. wich is probably why shes growing like a weed.

I've got a male carpet python who eats a lot of mice and rarely takes a rat hehe, but i rather feed him several mice then spend money on a rat which i kill and doesnt get eaten, i dont mind killing mice and rats if my snakes eat them but i hate to kill 1 and then have to trow him away. what a waste that is ;p
in a few days im picking up female carpet and then i can go do some rat tests cuz if my male refuses i can just give it to her
