Do you think 40gal Breeder is good for JCP???

diablo28 Jun 12, 2004 03:55 AM

I heard male adult JCPs are around 4~6ft, and females are little bit bigger.

I have a 40 gal Breeder tank..(36-18-20)

do you think 40 gal is good for adult JCP?

How about Irian Jaya's??? I heard they are little bit smaller(4~5ft)

I really like Jungle color......my gosh, they are gorgeous!!

NO.Unless it's a baby. I had my 5 foot female in a 40 gallon breeder and she was so restless. I bought her a 80 gallon tank. They are arboreal snake that like to climb around alot. Ever since her last shed and I measured her so was so 'wanting out' all the time in the 40. She moved her hide boxes, and water dish around so I thought it was time to get a bigger tank.
I still need to get her some branches to climb on which is what I'm going to do when I get off here.

No, Get bigger. Plus if you want a nice JCP you will end up spending a decent amount of money, so invest in the right cage its only fair to the snake. Also with a baby JCP I do not recommend putting them in a 40 gallon, They will become use to the free space they have (very quickly I may add) and will expect it in every cage they are in. Personal Favorites ont he JCP would be VPI, LEary and Lazik (I know i spelt that wrong, but don't have time to look it up).

Good rule of thumb-The lenth of a cage should be no less than Half the snakes body lenth (Aborial cages are height not lenth)

A 40 breeder could work as mimum caging for a JCP but really you want more space. It may work better for an IJ as they tend to be around 4ft for the most part as adults.
