I'm mostly a hognose/chondro guy and never really got into the "begginer snakes" so I dont know if they have personality, I like to name my snakes personal things. For example my little hognose I named pig because of the nose and because she pounds down mice like no other. My green tree python I named Verdi because I grew up with a book about a young gtp named verdi. Make the name your own.

There's no such thing as a "beginner" snake. I'll grant you that some are easier to care for then others and that some cost a little less then others, but to classify any snake as a beginner snake does injustice to the animal and to the amount of work needed to properly maintain the animal.
PS. That's a nice kingsnake! If you're going to name him, give hima regal sounding name.
Cheers!

(lol) And the question is: How to offend all the members of the KINGSNAKE forum??? (GROOOOWWWWLLLLL)

Couldn't resist that. I have kept hundresds of snake species and still love the kings........

As to the question, Call him LUCKY. He obviously is to have an owner who cares enough to name him.

I did not know I had to be so politically correct around fellow herp-lovers. You all know that kings, milks, and corns are commonly kept by people just entering the hobby and begginner was just an easier way to say kingsnakes, milksnakes, and cornsnakes. I did not mean that they are any less important, fascinating or beautiful. I'm glad that you didnt just focus on one word of my post.

I agree. And, if you'd like a more regal name "Fortunato" might do the trick--same sentiment!

Beware granting a name that has something to do with good fortune. Literarily, such individuals don’t fair well. Just look at Edgar Allan Poe’s stories – Fortunato gets walled alive in a crypt rather than getting a bottle of Amontillado and poor Prince Prospero gets gacked by the Red Death.

Beware!!!

I think you should name him 'Weret Hekau'. But maybe that's just me.

Why? What is it from. I have a snake named Countess from your suggestion(for the Countess of Bathory). She went through her first year eating only beheaded live pinks. Now she will take F/T...thank goodness. I think I printed out the list of names from your own animals. Very imaginitive thinking there.

True, colubrids in general are the "easiest" snakes to house, keep, and care for, but some of them have the most entertaining personalities of any snakes.

I've kept colubrids for 3 years now, and they are very interesting captives. Eventually I'd like to get a BRB and a Copperhead, to add variety and experience to my collection.

Snakes have very different personalities and cannot just be classified into "beginner" snakes or more advanced snakes.

I personally don't name my snakes... but my sisters name them

My Jungle Carpets have been named "George" and "Ursula"

Anery Corn is named "Callago" (latin for something)

Eastern Fox Snake's name is Erie, because that's where I caught him

My Leucistic Texas Rat either doesn't have a name or I can't remember it =/
