is this one? thought it's a cuora, but this one got no hinges on the plastron.

can anybody let me know why the color is like this? is it possible that the most outer layer of the shell has been peeled off (the one that gives the shell its color)?

what's the usual diet of these?
any site recommendations where i can read about this specie?
is what's the status of this, rare?

got this photo from a cantonese friend in hongkong, i just got amazed with the color, trying to pass this one to me as a cuora pani, thought it was a auracapitata.

thanks in advance for the replies...

More likely it is just a M. mutica. I pesonally own both and I have never really been able to satisfactorily distinguish between pritchadi and the range of variation I have seen in mutica. Pritchardi does appear to be a bit lighter in shell color (as with your turtle) and the soft parts appear to be lighter gray in color than mutica, but maybe over on the "Cuora" website (lost the URL) someone will have better information.
