mauremys prichardi???

mikeflores Jun 12, 2004 09:20 AM

is this one? thought it's a cuora, but this one got no hinges on the plastron.

can anybody let me know why the color is like this? is it possible that the most outer layer of the shell has been peeled off (the one that gives the shell its color)?

what's the usual diet of these?
any site recommendations where i can read about this specie?
is what's the status of this, rare?

got this photo from a cantonese friend in hongkong, i just got amazed with the color, trying to pass this one to me as a cuora pani, thought it was a auracapitata.

thanks in advance for the replies...

1. Mauremys pritchardi is a proofen Hybrid of Mauremys mutica x Chinemys reevesi, thus it should not have any status.

2. The specimen above is a very light coloured (maybe not enough light while raising, or water temp to high etc.) Mauremys mutica I'd say, don't you have a pic from the head? Why don't you use the info I gave you on pani & auro to identify them straight away? it is so easy to do so.
