Has anyone ever heard of it? They are those signs on telephone poles or in the road's right of way that say things like "Work at Home!" or "Lose 30 lbs in 30 days!" I'm pretty sure putting them out is illegal, or at least unethical.

I agree they are argueably "unethical". However the leglllity is subject to local city/county ordinances so it is a case by case situation.
