question for experienced keepers/breeders

kephy Jun 12, 2004 02:11 PM

I've asked this before a while back, but I don't remember getting a definate answer.

My adult male has a couple of black spots on his scales. A couple on his beard, and a few on his face. The spots aren't entire scales turning black, just specks that show up on the scales. They haven't always been there, but once one shows up it doesn't go away, so first there were none, then one, now theres maybe about 6 or 7.

They don't bother him, and he's a healthy lizard as far as I can tell, his vet thinks he's in great shape. He gets fresh greens and veggies every day, gutloaded crickets a few times a week, calcium and multivitamin supps, UVB and heat, and lots of attention. I just can't figure out why these spots show up? Have any of you guys seen this before or have any idea what it's from?

dont know if it is the same but a biopsy revealed that it was just pigmentation and nothing to worry about.

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

Thanks. I thought it might be something like a freckle on a human, harmless. I just wasn't sure. I noticed a new one today and it got me thinking about it some more. I'd hate to find out there was more to it.
