FYI, BDs and water bowls

I moved one of my 1 yr old male BDs to a new enclosure. He started losing weight and not eating like he used to. there were several differences between the 2 enclosures but nothing I could see that would cause this behavior.

Long story short, I put a water bowl in the new enclosure like he had before and found him soaking in it regularly and now back to his normal self... go figure. He missed his bath tub!

That's funny.

My beardie hates water and wouldn't go near his dish with a ten foot pole. I took it out about 4 months ago and he could really care less.

It's amusing how they all have different likes and dislikes.

My guy never drinks water out of a bowl, in fact up until a month ago I had never seen him drink water at all. Then one day I came home and it was raining out and he was in his outside enclosure. I expected to find him under the sheltered side or hiding under the board he perches on but instead he was right in the open "tabling" and drinking rainwater! He had himself jacked up as high as he could go on all four legs with his sides spread out like an umbrella. He had himself tipped back to front and his head lowered and as the rain gathered on his body and ran down to the tip of his nose he lapped the water. Quite an ingenious way to get water if you're a desert creature. Onc ehe had enough to drink he sought shelter. Since then I've taken to spraying him lightly with the hose and he positions himself that way and has a drink once a week or so. If he doesn't want a drink he just runs for cover.
