Brand new Mali Uro Eggs! Someone HELP!!!

jbourrie Jun 12, 2004 10:43 PM

We are first time owners of two great mali uros. Our female has just today layed her first clutch of eggs(4). As soon as we got the incubator set up we put the eggs in barely damp perlite and have the temp set at about 90F. About a hour after we set the eggs in, they began to dent and sink in. I'm fairly sure that isn't a good sign, but I'm hoping that is suppose to happen. What should we do?

It feels like she still has more eggs in her, but are we suppose to let the eggs fully harden before putting them in the incubator. We are very stressed out and want to do everything right. Please help with lots of info.

Usually this is a sign that the humidity level needs to be higher.

When adding water, do not let it come in direct contact with the eggs.

Are the eggs yellow? If so they might not be fertile. Each fertile egg from the time it is laid in the nest will have a visible red circle in it. If there isn't enough humitity the eggs will dent. Y ou may need a bit more moisture. You could also put a small open container of water in the incubator this will help keep the humitity up. GOOD LUCK!!

Thanx for the info. The eggs are mostly white with abit of yellow on the bottom. We looked for the red cirle in some, and we did see it. Were so excited! The eggs however were hard when we took them away from her. They sunk in when we put them in the incubator, it has to be humid enough. We can see the moisture on the sides of the container. Anyway she layed a total of six eggs. More advice is always welcome.
