Going Solo?

devious_froggy Jun 12, 2004 11:09 PM

i have just set up a nice little 10gallon planted viv. and i have a few questions.

1) is it suitable for one small frog, what species would you recomend

2) is it ok if i only have one, or should i keep at least a pair

3) i have this fern, its really cool! it moves on its own when you touch it, i think is common name is a sensitive fern, and scientific name is something like nermosa.?? any ideas if this is safe or not? i cant find it on any of the toxic plant sheets?

The plant name is probably mimosa pudica. And yes youi could easily keep a single frog in it, but why dont you go with a pair of auratus or leucs?

thankx for you reply! i actually was thingikng of either auratus or like you said, or mint teribillis (i dont think i spelled that one right...) so a pair of auratus would be ok in a ten, what about the mint? i might have to get them a few months apart becuas i really dont want to have to deal with shipping, so i would get them through a local pet store (whos really great and i really trust!) who orders them from a breeder, but the supply is always very limited and they only have one or two at a time. so could i get one then get another later on? also, auratus is ok with a main staple of fruit flies, right? can they also eat pinhead crickets or very small mealworms as a treat? can the mints eat the same thing? thank you again for all you help!
