On one of my pics in the photo gallery a user posted a comment saying that they were publishing a childrens book about condas and wanted my permission to use some of my pics. My girl might be the next Winnie the Pooh. WOO HOO! Of course I'll be way to famous to talk in here anymore. So I'll see you all at the top of my childrens book photo empire. lol j/k

Found out more about the book thing. She is publishing an e-book. She wanted me to send her a pic with a green anaconda eating. I just fed mine yesterday so it'll be awhile before she needs to eat again. If any of you have any pics of your greens feeding and don't mind them being published this way then email them to me at arikbeal@hotmail.com I'll make sure you are given credit for them.
Also I would think a good pic of a yellow would be good for her to publish along with the greens to show the difference. She might not think so though.
Anyways send me any pics that you have and don't mind being published. Feeding ones especially.

Thanks
Arik

I agree this is the only forum I have been to that isn't a punch of people who bash on the new people for asking questions.

This would be my firt time to post on the conda forum and I too like the respect level. I have no condas so hve not reaaly had a reason to post. I have been reading posts for quite a while though. I have thought about getting a conda but I am swurving towards an albino burm. Who knows, I might get one this weekend. Is a big soaking bowl necesarry or is it something that should be offered every few days or what. Green anaconda or albino burmese? I can't decide. Temperment is another factor too.

Welcome to the forum. I would go for a green anaconda, the male I have is SO docile. I have never seen a snake so calm, he makes my BP look like a rattle snake. As far as water bowls I use large dog water bowls about 10-12 inches. If you want a large tub thats fine too, just make sure the water stays clean.

thanx. how big is your biggest (assuming you have more than one)? Do you use a python sized inclosure(the dimesions). I don't know what I would do with out the parenthesis marks lol.(I use em' quite a bit. I'll be going to the Dixe reptile show on saturday in Birmingham AL. So maybe I'll se one there. I still have not made a decision though. I might just get both. That is alot of space for me becaus i have so many other herps and non herps.

I made a post last night in response to your comment about thuis forum being so polite. and as a joke a said you are stupid and a bunch of stuff and then answered some of your questions and it got removed lol. maybe it is not the forum that is polite but the nice editors of kingsnake : ) obviously they do not read sarcasm well.

Justin Stricklin Jun 14, 2004 09:54 PM

lol. I did not see it. We downloaded a bunch of crap on the computer today and it slowed it down for a while. What were the answers to my questions.

I said i doubt anyone is going to recomend a burm in this forum but if it is what you love then by all means go for it. i think they are way more prone to URIs. a lot of people have albino burms but if you like albinos...you are not going to get it in anaconda version
; ) you do not need to keep a large water bowl but you can as long as it is super clean all the time...i offer it every now and then. If you are keeping high humidity (i wont get into how but there are plenty of posts in the past with suggestions) you will be fine. i like anacondas and dont like to deal with the big snakes that are not as tolerant to conditions (anacondas are going to be more of a trick to feed..unless you get one from kelly who has already done the hard work for you...or get a yellow and they usually will start on rodents)...good luck

Justin Stricklin Jun 15, 2004 01:41 PM

I still can't decide. I know a few tricks with humidity. Kelly who? Reason I ask is that Kelly Swift usualy has a booth at the Dixie reptile show and I have bought a ton of spiders form him, he also has anacondas(green and yellow). He ususaly does all the hard work too. The feeding part is the only thing keeping me from making a definite decision. I have enough finicky eters lol. thanx for info again.

Kelly Haller (the best), Myself and Arik have his snakes he bread, and both of us are so happy with our purchace's. We both bought males from him. Dont just go to a show and buy them, you will be sorry. Young green anacondas can be very troublsome to get feeding properly, Kelly has done all the hard work for you. To find out more about Mr. Kelly Haller go find the Jan. issue of Reptile magazine and read his article he wrote. I have had snakes my whole life and never have I ever seen a breeder with such knowledge or consern for the snakes he breeds.

I think I'll wait about getting an anacaonda. I will wait till I have a burm for a while, then attempt a conda. I'll keep an eye on the forum though.
