Unofficial Poll on Eastern Kingsnake preferences....

Keith Hillson Jun 13, 2004 01:05 AM

Below are examples of Eastern Kings and pattern types that they can come in. Not every single possibility is illustrated but a decent broad example is shown. Im curious as to what people like the most out of the widley differing Eastern King. Simply post under the type you like the most to cast your vote. If you like more than one type post under more than one of them. This is just for fun and nothing else.

My vote goes to the thin barred easterns.

But thick and medium thickness crossbars are hot on the heals of thin crossbarred Eastrerns in my book.

This is an old pic, but I think this NJ boy I recieved from you is gonna be a trophy. My Burlington female gets more attention than any snake in the house, including some goofy ball morphs. She is the North American equivalent of Papuan Morelia boleni. Although in reference to a previous post, she got very dark and dingy during pregnancy, which lasted until after oviposition a couple of weeks ago. However, she's now purdy again!

In my rambings I forgot to mention that for most of my life, my herpetocultural holy grail was an ultra thin chained indigo black and enamel white eastern king. Tough call Dude.........

I like the high contrast black and whites more than anything , but thicker bands are better.

Though some of the medium banded ones are ok.

Keith, you know I have the NJ from you. He's a beautiful snake, but the reason I would never trade him has more to do with his personality (which is unbelievable). Ever since I started seeing those Will Still/Kevin Enge Georgia boys, they have been at the top of my list, so my vote is here.

My favorite normals are the speckleds from Currituck,NC but overall I like the intergrades to GOINI in GA like Will Still has best.Hard to get exited about anything "normal" looking anymore, lol.Jeff

Keith Hillson Jun 14, 2004 01:24 PM

Jeff

I wouldn't call Will's snakes intergrades with Goini. I think they have some "Goini" influence that has shown itself via selective breeding and thats not even for sure. Look at Seans animal its far from "Goini" and it reseambles them a little bit.The snakes Will produces maybe a genetic mutation ??? We will find out when Wills eggs hatch out . I think he bred his wide banded male to some of his wide banded sisters.

This leads them to more extreme patterns, which are what I like personally.Though nice, those NJ kings you rave about start looking average if you see em all the time, know what I mean? Not very variable like milks...Jeff
