Bloods vs Short-tails

bloodsss Jun 13, 2004 04:42 AM

Hi,

I really like both species but I only have experience with ball pythons and corn snakes, so what's the best species to choose?
Or are they even difficult?

Hey,
Well since no one has given you their opinion on what the best species of blood or short-tail is, here is mine, I like all of them. I personally like the black bloods, for their lovely black color and orange eyes, and their small size as adults. They can be found in various shades of dark colors varying from brown with tan to pumpkin colored heads, to all black in some cases. The latter being the harder to find.

Bloods on the other hand, can be more variable with their amazing shades of orange to tan and yellow, to the coveted ox blood color. The latter too, being the one more keepers look for in their quest and search for the perfect blood specimen. They are the most irascible of the bloods and short-tails, in terms of temperment, but with some work they calm down. And given the proper care and husbandry management, they too make amazing charges in the care of even the least seasoned keeper.

Study up hard, and learn from the good folk here in the forum, and visit other forums too, and get as much information as you possibly can on the entire group of bloods and short-tails. That includes the Borneo short-tail as well, and the Sarawaks. The latter being a little bit hard to come by, as there is a scarcity of them in the country for the time being. Good luck!
