Breeder question....

dmac77 Jun 13, 2004 12:16 PM

I've got a male snow corn that is about four years old and has bred the past two years. He has been eating fine up until about two weeks ago. Suddenly he is refusing food like he did at the beginning of the breeding season. I was just curious if this was normal.... kind of like a second wind in the breeding area. Thanks for the input.

In the wild, males find females that are ready to breed by scent. When males go off feed and concentrate on breeding, it is due to scent. If there is a female in the same room that is ready to be bred, a male will pickup the scent. If your worried about the male not feeding, move him to another room.

Like John said, there is a female around that is probably ready for breeding on he secomd (double) clutch and your boy is looking for nookie.......
As long as the snake's weight is good there is no problem
Good Luck
