Brooks Eggs are unusually yellow but look good otherwise

RussBates Jun 13, 2004 12:46 PM

Anyone have any opinions/thoughts about this clutch of eggs? They look good in every way only they have a very yellow hue to them. Mom took about 20 days to lay them but pushed them all (8) out in a matter of 4-6 hours (while I slept).

Thanks
Russ

I had one snake that took 16 days to lay her eggs and they came out yellowish, not quite as bad as yours, but still quite yellow. They all candled with veins, and they have started to die. Of the original 15 eggs (took 16 hours to lay them) there are only 6 or 7 possibly good eggs left... four or five have turned bluegreen, and the rest are "seeping" and white moldy, just dying... you can still see veins in the non-green eggs, but they aren't cohesive. In short, it's a bad clutch. *sigh* ... Could be due to the long time between pre-lay shed and laying... or could be the three days without an AC where she had higher than normal temps (this was after she shed, before she laid her eggs).

It's disheartening. Good luck with yours. I would be interested to learn if they go full term and hatch, or if they go bad.

Looks very normal to me Russ. Good luck with the hatching.

Thanks Brandon. It's the strangest yellow tint I've ever seen but they seem to have stuck together well and the shells are hardening. We'll see in 60 days or so.
