Picture of extremly hard to find leo

louie1 Jun 13, 2004 03:44 PM

This is a picture of my very first leo. She is about 10yrs old and I've had her about 9 1/2yrs. She is the sweetest gecko I've ever owned. I'd thought I'd share a picture of my girl. Enjoy!

10 years? I know the books say they can live quite awhile, but that's still incredible, and she looks so healthy.

Keep the pics coming. I am and always will be a fan of normals.

Its great to hear from someone with more "elderly" geckos! Although 10 isnt incredibly old for a leo. dont get me wrong, its great hearing about everyones babies, and new geckos, but i just wish there was somewhere i could get some info on helping geckos age gracefuly. so heres the question i cant seem to find an answer for, what do you do with her nails? my leo (see pic below) is almost 7 years old, and her nails are getting very long. i have tryed differnt types of flat rock and tile substraites to wear them down, but they just keep on growing! its not to the point where its extreme, but it is beginning to affect the angle of the way her toes point when she walks (although not affecting the walk itself...) do you have a problem with this on your gecko? also, should i increase her calcium intake as she gets older? did you? all the resources i can find only talk about babies and adults...not seniors.

To be completely honest i haven't changed much on how she is cared for through the years. She has been a very hardy individual for me she survived 5 or 6 moves apt-2-apt even the one from El Paso,TX where I'm from originally to my home in Fort Worth,TX now. I guess if I made any changes in her diet is I don't feed as much or as often as when she was little and that ensure's me she will eat when I feed her. Don't get me wrong I don't starve her or anything as you can see from the pics. I dust every third to fourth feeding on average. As for the nails I'm sorry but I can't help you much there since she hasn't had that problem. She just been very good to me and I hope she will last many more years to come! Thanks for the replies,
Louie
