You guys in here are the most trustworthy that I know of for snake advice...

Have any of you dealt with Children's Pythons before?

In New Orleans it is very rare to come across anything other than colubrids, BCIs, and BPs. My local mouse supplier had someone bring in a young children's python around 8". I don't think $50 is a bad price at all, but the little guy is so edgy... striking all the time.

He/She/It is in good health, no mites, and ate once at this store (I gave him a good look over myself).

Just wondering if I should take another venture! Do they make good captives? I'm sure just like other neonates, a little TLC will calm him down completely - but then again, there must some reason why these guys are so rare.

Thanks guys,
Ian

Childrens pythons do make nice little pets. If he's clean and eating, and you want him I don't see any reason for you not to get him...

Triniian,
I used to have a Children's Python and found it to be a great little snake. Really good feeding response, nice attitude, interesting snake. Really small. Easy to keep.
Sounds like a good deal to me.

My first snake was a childrens and I still have the guy. He has the most personality of all my snakes...he used to eat right of my hand as a baby. As long as you keep them in the basic they will eat and be handled just fine.
