Pyramiding

turtlemix21 Jun 13, 2004 04:59 PM

Hi all, I was wondering if there is any way to stop the pyramiding effect on tortises. I recently aquired a sulcatta tort, that is approx. 1'2" in length. He has some pyramiding of the shell but not as bad as I have seen on others. The main diet of my 3 guys and 1 girl is the following. Orchard grass hay, field hay mixture, sweet grass hay, as their main diet. They also get a mixture of romaine, green and red leaf lettuce, endive, and zucchinni, squash, sweet potatoe, and sprouts. I also add the calcium/phospherus 2 times a week. During the summer they are kept outdoors, and int he cooler weather they are kept indoors with the T-rex uv heat lights. Is this diet sufficiant,a dn will it help to slow down the pyramiding effect?? All help is greatly appreciated.
