Pastels (Genetic)

mrbirgel Jun 13, 2004 05:13 PM

I have produced more Genetic Pastels from my Het Albino Stripe line. My line of pastel is born with either a pinkish or redish head. The body is very clean with very little flecking unlike the original hets and albino line which had a lot of flecking. Genetic pastels of this line clean an albino up giving a pastel albino has a crisper look and brighter colors that stay bright. The hypo pastels are much more bright in color from using this genetic line of pastels. I can't wait to see what genetic pastel sunglows will look like. This is the second year that this line has produced these gems. Last year I produced a male pastel 100% het albino from breeding an albino to the double het Albino striped line female that produced these genetic pastels. She is very clean and bright in appearance and has 3 other sisters that match her. One of the other sisters is even more light in color and she will be bred to the albino's this year. The pastel male is up to size and he will be bred !
back to his mother this year to see if there is a super pastel to complete the genetic pastel mystery.
I have been working with this line for the past few breeding seasons and each year I get outstanding babies from this line. In the mean time I am going to assume this line has proven itself dominant. When you breed an unrelated male you get pastels maybe when I breed the pastel male I will get the super or just get more pastels. It breaks down to this, out of 23 babies 4 pastels were born and two hypo pastels were born so that's 6 pastels out of 23 babies. I have bred an unrelated hypo, unrelated striped het albino also an unrelated albino to this line and in all three breedings there are pastels and the combination of the pastel look and other genetics. Hypo Pastels and Albino Pastels have the most clean and amazing appearance they are very brightly colored animals and the pastel pattern shines through. This year two Hypo Pastels and 2 Albino Pastels were produced, I am raising all of them up for this breeding project. If you are interested in producing some of the best!
albino's, hypo's stripers and sunglows around you will want these babies.

Do you have any pictures showing the sides of these animals? A pastel is an animals with a reduced wash of black (similar to hypos, but not quite the same distribution of the remaining black) I would love to see pictures of the adults and definetely some pictures showing the sides of these animals..

One indicator you need to look for is a near complete lack of black in the sides and especially in the medallions.. This is one of the main indicators..
