having a problem switching a bd to an outdoor cage

bz Jun 13, 2004 05:22 PM

I recently built an outdoor enclodure for my bd. When I put him in there, he was going nuts. Any tips/advice on getting him use to it? Also, my bd is about fifteen inches long and he is in a 20 gal. glass enclosure indoors. Is this to small of an enclosure?

I would make sure it has plenty of shaded area and one or two good hides. A lot of indorr dragons become very nervous outside. A much larger area and the threat of more predators. Even if the enclosure is completely sealed off there can be an insecurity factor with being outside. Especially if it can see things above it. ie. people, dogs, birds etc.

i've noticed them get stressed just by adding or moving fictures around in the cage. outside they become totally overwhelmed until they have time to become acclamated. i agree with mike, shade,a hide and let them get accustomed to the new enviorment on thier own terms,
good luck

the 20gal indoor tank is too small as well. Should have at least a 50Gal breeder (or something with floor space of 4'x2' with height between 16" - 24"
