Feeding questions? Need advice

johnnyMoney Jun 13, 2004 05:42 PM

I just bought a meduim-large female lizard, not sure how old though (i think it was a year old), however, i have a few feeding questions.
1A.) What food do i feed the crickets, b/c i heard that u need to feed them the night before u feed them to your gecko?
1B.)I currently have about 12 crickets in a plastic container with a slice of orange, is that ok?

2.)Should i put all the crickets into the gecko cage, with some food, so that the gecko can eat them when he wants?

3.)How many crickets should i feed my gecko, some people told me about a dozen 3-4 times a week, while some pets store like petco told me ONE cricket everyday, who is correct?

4.) i offered my gecko one cricket, it just licked it, and walked away to its hiding place, did i do something wrong is the gecko simply not hungry? (this is one day after i bought this gecko)

Anyonez advice is greatly appreciated, THANKZ !!!

I feed mine dried cat and dog food, with some apples for a water source, but they're never alive very long because they're fed tot he geckos.

No, the crickets might bite at the gecko whenever it sleeps and such.

>>3.)How many crickets should i feed my gecko, some people told me about a dozen 3-4 times a week, while some pets store like petco told me ONE cricket everyday, who is correct?

Feed it crickets until it stops eating, then feed it like that night after night, etc, etc.

It's probably just stressed from the recent move. Give it a few days. Please visit my caresheet at the webpage below.

you should gutload your crickets for at least 24 hours before feeding. Feed dog food with no red dyes in a dish on one side of the cricket cage and high calcium fruits/veggies in another dish.

1B.)I currently have about 12 crickets in a plastic container with a slice of orange, is that ok?
See above answer.

2.)Should i put all the crickets into the gecko cage, with some food, so that the gecko can eat them when he wants?
Leave the crickets in its cage no longer than 30 minutes. If it doesn't eat, try taking out the cage furniture.

3.)How many crickets should i feed my gecko, some people told me about a dozen 3-4 times a week, while some pets store like petco told me ONE cricket everyday, who is correct?
Feed AS MANY AS IT WILL EAT. Feed it everyday.

4.) i offered my gecko one cricket, it just licked it, and walked away to its hiding place, did i do something wrong is the gecko simply not hungry? (this is one day after i bought this gecko)
what are the temps?
