Advice needed and a birth announcement!

Ok folks, I know I've come to the right place for help. At the Taylor show yesterday one of the vendors gave us 2 Painted Agamas that he didn't want to bother with anymore. I need help getting them set up correctly. So far we have them set up like a Bearded Dragon...basking spot around 100, cool side around 75 (dropping maybe another 5-8 degrees at night), UVB, rocks, sand, small water dish. Are these critters totally insectivorious? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Last March we did some lizard sitting for a friend and some of our charges were a pair of chucks, the female being gravid. Her second day here she laid her eggs. We set them up in the incubator and decided it was best to leave them here rather than transport them after our friend returned home. A week post laying the female chuck passed away, necropsy showing a brain hemorrhage. After that disappointment Jen was pinning alot of hopes on these eggs....she's never successfully hatched any of her chuck's clutches. I'm happy to say that baby #1 hatched out last night and egg #2 is split today with a head sticking out! We're hoping the last 2 eggs make it also. Just thought I'd share the news and a photo.

They are so pretty, glad they hatched okay, you guys did an excellent job for your friend, that was real NICE

As far as your painted agama / Laudakia Stellio Brachydactyla

about the same as you are saying, yes, I have L. stellio stellio black agamas, same kind of care basically.

Mine do enjoy salads everyday too ! With lots of shredded carrots!

A forum buddy JohnC breeds them, so if you have anything else you would like to know give him a holler!

You may want to offer feces from an adult right off the bat for about the first 30 days or so. They will thrive better if done so. Maybe if you do not have an adult chuck you can try feces from a cyclura.
Did the chuck article ever get published? I had a computer crash and lost all my pics. I wrote to Richard Montanucci to have him contact John to offer pics since he has a ton. I don't know if he did or not though. I had a nice long thing written up on chuck diet for Ctenasaura who contacted me for info. I lost all that also but maybe for the better as I was told I should not give that info as it was only speculation at this point with no hard research done.
Anyway I hope you do good with the babies. Good luck.
