..........desert kings aren't more popular? i have 1.2 very hi yellows that i can't wait to breed.my favorite part of any snake is the head, black on top and yellow and black on the side,i think there just awesome.
Really, I have no answer to your question. They are very robust, abundant snakes that are very easy to keep and handle. There are some very unique Splendida from the El Paso, TX area that are outrageous. There are sockheads, striped and I have seen many hypo Splendida that are awesome as well.
I usually ask this same question about Mexicana Mexicana. Why are they not so popular?

and i ask the same about thayeri
Why aren't they as popular as other kings?
There is no funner snake at hatching time. The very seldom bite or musk.

Just look at them. They are not the all too common black and white, or cream and brown common king. They got vivid color!
and they are in their pure form not morphed.
Isn't she a little young to breed? I always thought you should wait until they are at least three years old to avoid problems. My opinion is not based on experience but just what I recall reading.
Rod
Actually she is at least three years of age and is 36 inches long. She looks smaller in the pic but is large enough.
Also a Splendida can breed at age 2 if large enough and has good weight.
I am going to try once again next year.
