Naw, Hillerman's novels are mostly very Southwestern "mystery" novels set in the "four corners" area of the Navajo and Hopi tribal regions. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee are tribal police who have to deal with some very interesting issues concerning the traditional Navajo culture as they do their jobs. QUITE wholesome LOL. Most of your lizard's names could have come right off the pages, and I'll bet you could find a LOT more in almost any of his books!

Have a very beautiful large wolf painting done by an Indian artist on the reservation.
Nothing as Majestic as a wolf. Have to get it framed its big. Gus gave it to me . In person , it looks as if you could touch his fur. pic below
They were pretty neat, very creative people to this day. Will always sends me rock art done by them 
. * They took only what they needed and gave the animal thanks. They believe all things are spirit.
* Plus as a kid I loved the Indian girls long hair and to this day mine is to my waist.
*I absolutely LOVED the Indian horses, the Pinto's or paints.
* My home is very southwesterny with a country or naturey TWIST!
* I have 2 tattoos that are Indian in nature an armband that looks like rawhide with colored beads and a feather hanging.

My father has been trying to get me to read Hillerman novels for a few years now, but all my textbooks fill my reading quota! They must be very good though, he is a huge fan and he has very good taste in books!
