Food for gecko - Crickets?

johnnyMoney Jun 14, 2004 12:10 AM

I recently posted a message with a few questions about feeding geckos, well, i forget to ask a few more important questions so here goes...
My adult female gecko which i got 2 days ago just sleeps in her hide box all day, so that brings me to my first question,
1.) when i feed her, do i pull her out of the hide box, and insert a few crickets into her cage (which is a large plastic container)?
2.) or when i feed her, do i just insert the crickets into her cage and wait for her to come out by herself?
3.) Also, when is the best time to feed a adult female gecko (Night, Morning, NOON)?
4.) Assuming my gecko doesn't eat today, which is Day 2 since she last ate (according to the individual i bought her from), should i start to panic or is it no big deal (meaning she'll eat sooner or later)?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!Thank you

First dont panic ! Missing a day is not uncommon. Wait t'ill she gets out, dont get her out of hiding by force...it's her secret place to feel secure. try to lure her out by showing her cricquets, also try to leave a bowl of mealies so that if she come out at night she can eat some. My gecko too hide all day and come out at night to feed and since last week, she seem to prefer mealies to crix. Keep us posted !
