My daughters have 4 pet Corn Snakes - Bloodred, Oketee, Creamsicle, and Snow (and 1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa, just for variety) so we have a small mouse breeding colony in the garage. Sunday morning I went out there and looked in on a pregnant breeder.
To my shock, I discovered a beautiful little yearling Oketee corn curled up in the shavings (and a dead mouse which had apparently been half ingested and then rejected when the snake realized it was too big to get into its mouth.)
I couldn't imagine where this snake had come from and had to run back into the house to ensure our little yearling Oketee hadn't escaped and found his way out there. No, this was a new addition, and we have no clue how it found its way into our garage, and then trapped itself in the mouse breeding tub.
We live in a residential tract home in Southern California, and corns are not common in this area. We also know all of our neighbors, and as a far as we know we are the only ones with reptiles in the neighborhood.
BIZARRE.........But Welcome to the Zoo!!!
