Morph/Color Question

Hey,

If you bred 2 adult eastern garters to each other, one amelanistic and one melanistic, would the babies just be double-het?

Michael,

That is the cross that Kyle Shuett did with his albino and melanistic easterns. The babies from that cross are normal looking in appearance but are double het for the albino and melanistic traits.

So if say the siblings that were double-het were bred to each other when sexually matured, would the newborns be a mix of melanistic and amelanistic specimens?

You'd get amelanistics, melanistics, normals and hets (aka possible hets).
