New to sulcata tortoise need help!

ladysurvivor Jun 19, 2003 11:39 AM

I just recently got a sulcata tortoise. I was told it was between 2 and 3 months old. I have read every care sheet I can. I am feeding it what I was told to and lots of grass outside. But I have noticed its poop is white and runny. I don't think this is normal. Could somebody help me out and give me a few suggestions?

called "urates" white with the consistancy of toothpaste or
thinner. Make sure your baby has access to fresh drinking
water and that you soak him briefly in shallow water (way below
his chin) to keep him hydrated. Make sure to avoid any chance
of a chill. See the post above for more tips, and there is plenty
of info on this forum. I've seen care sheets and must say that
most are very general and suggest a low basking temp. Try to
see who is putting out the care sheets also, do these people
even have sulcatas?

You've definitely found the right resource for your baby! We may not always agree, but most of us know what the heck we're talking about.
