New to savannah moniters....

raffertyreptiles Jun 14, 2004 06:57 PM

I am new to savannah moniters, my first question is how significant is the need of a UVB light for the over all well being of the moniter, and also if anyone has any personal favorite care sheets that they feel are good over all sheets for beginers. Thanks

and from what i've read the lights dont produce enough rays to make a real difference. A good calcium supplement with D3 gives your monitor the ability to use its calcium intake. Thats the most substantial benefit of UV rays if im not mistaken.

with other reptiles UVB light is MUCH better than a d3 supplement as the reptiles can get enough d3 as the need and cant be "overdosed" and actually a reptisun may not be sufficient past 10" from the bulb, but if you get a mercury vapor bulb (MVB), they have an output of at least 10 times a flourescent UVB bulb...Just my knowledge hope it helps
