Aquarium cleaning

bertcash Jun 14, 2004 10:29 PM

I have 10 aquariums that contain geckos, snakes, lizards and a frog. What is the easiest way to clean them besides taking them out and using a hose. I have two that are quite large that I can't move by myself.

Clean w/ hot soapy water in a spray bottle

Rinse (maybe spray with water and wipe)

Disinfect by spraying with Nolvasan/Virosan, let sit for a bit & wipe

Ammonia free windex is also very good to clean the cages with... just make sure to take the animals out and let it air out before returning them.

I use MILD soapy hot water, then rinse with cold water. After the tank is clean I mix a solution of vinegar and water and clean the tank with that also followed by another rinse. The acid in the vinegar kills any insects/bacteria that is in the tank effectively and also shine the glass up pretty good.
