Over twenty years ago, I believe around 25 now, John Meltzer got a number of babies from a friend who had collected some adults from the Pine Barrens back before regulations were in place against collection. And the babies John got were from these previously wild caught adults. Well those animals lived into their twenties, producing very well for John. My older male is directly out of these old animals. My older female has the same father but different mother, from yet another bloodline. Known for having a red body color. Thus my older female has some red wash in her face and well marked red spots in the back third of her body. Where the male is primarily black and white. The younger pair I have come from the old female, the last one John had left. The old male had died so he used a young male NJ stock male from another bloodline. I'm told the original bunch came from Ocean and Birmingham Counties. I haven't been told the name of this original breeder, but I have no reason to doubt John Meltzer on their locality info. After all, he got them WAY back when the hobby was just gettin going. There was a period of time he couldn't hardly give the babies away! My only regret is back when I picked up my first pair, there were two clutches, and I wish I had picked a pair from each clutch rather than one from each clutch as I did. Both my males and my younger female greatly resemble the older bloodline. I have pictures of the old snakes that my stock originates from. John said he had six of them at one time. One of the babies I produced last year was bought by him. He's liking the black and white with a red pink wash on the sides. Very pretty! I love the black and white of the males, but my favorite is my Big Girl!

here is a shot of one of the old animals that I bought my first pair from. Not sure which one it is, male or female...John had told me, but I didn't get around to labeling them...whoops!
