How Many of You Are Canadian?

Brock Jun 15, 2004 02:42 AM

I'm in British Columbia. Kamloops to be precise. I've been looking into getting some Uroplatis for about 2 years now and have done quite a bit of research in that time. How many of you are in Canada, where in Canada, what do you keep, and where can I get some Uroplatus in BC or AB?

Thanks,
-Brock

Hi Brock,
I don't live in BC but i do live in WA state. I keep uroplatus pietschmanni. I don't know of any dealers in your area but Neil Meister, i believe the most renowned uroplatus breeder in the world, can ship to all of Canada and has some very nice captive bred animals available right now i believe. Try contacting him. Also isn't Kameloops right by Sun Mountain? I have thought of going on a Snowboarding vacation there this winter, looks to be a pretty nice place.

Was Todd Mountain, now is Sun Peaks Resort. Very very nice place. Kamloops is just half an hour away from there, it's an amazing spot. I stayed up there for a week on New Years, very cool time. Everyone kinda leaves after New Years though, so if you wan't a hoppin night life along with a sweet day's worth of boarding, go before New Years. If you want it a bit more toned down, go after.

Pietschmanni is my favourite species, I wonder if Neil has any of those.... Pretty expensive I would imagine. What species are one of the cheapest and hardiest for a noob such as myself? Uro. fimbriatus?

I definitely suggest contacting Neil with any questions. He is very nice and would be happy to help you out. I don't think there are many (if any) regular breeders in Canada except for Neil but you won't be disappointed with the quality of the animals. And I'll also tell you first hand that having the opportunity to buy CB animals vs. WC is a privilege not many have as a luxury. They cost a little more but you save so much more in vet bills. In fact, having Neil in your own country is a definite privilege for any uroplatus keeper!

Does Neil Meister have a website or e-mail?
