Loss of Appetite

Chrysemys Jun 19, 2003 12:31 PM

Hey,
I have had my 2 female leos together for at least 5 months now. Ever since I put them together they have not eaten as much as they used to. They still eat, but they do not have the agressive eating habits that they did before. Neither has lost a cinsiderable amount of waight, but my oldest, was VERY fat to start with and her tail has thinned down just a pinch, but is still way above average. Are they stressed from being together? They are in a large enclosure, 4ftx2ftx16in.
Thanks,
Chris D.

well I don't know if they are stressed but I would say it has definately changed some attitudes by being together if they are not eating as well. As long as they look healthy don't worry. One did not bring in a parasite to the other per chance? Just wondering.

No, I dont believe it's parasites. What if I threw a male in there? Think it would make things worse. I want to breed them thats why I got another female. But looks like it may not turn out the way I wanted it to. Thnaks,

Not real sure on the loss of appetite aspect, but if you plan on breeding them it has been my experience that breeding is more succesful when the females are introduced to the male's enclosure than the male to the female's.
