I JUST got the nicaraguans from Ben about 10 minutes ago and WOW! They are screaming with color! I cannot wait to get a 1st meal into them. But of course its best if I let them settle in first. Of my other two, one has had 3 meals, while the other only 2. The petstore where I buy live was out of fuzzies on the second feeding attempt so I tried hoppers. The one took it fine but the other constricted yet did not eat since the mouse may have been too big. That was about 2 weeks ago.

It stinks that I have to feed live but its worth it given their awesome nature. They are as tame as can be and at least they are eating, which is usually half the battle when buying imports of other snake species. I'm sure I can get them to switch over but I have one question. When you heat up the f/t mice to fool them into thinking its alive, did you tease feed at all? Maybe that was my mistake. I tried a f/t feeding attempt once and I think I scared them with the feeding tongs. Maybe I should just leave the hot fuzzy mouse in their enclosure and let them go for it.

Its amazing how they can make the distinction between live and f/t especially when their feeding response with live is so strong. Well, anyway, I'll let this pair settle in and maybe I'll try f/t to start and see if they'll take to it. Its so exciting just holding these guys b/c of their interesting iridescence...I'll get some more pics later this week I hope.

Yes i do tease them, and i stay back 3 maybe 4 inch's and let them come to it,if i dont get a quick responce with the tease i stop and try later, 1 hour maybe,ya they aint dumb they know live from dead,i found in teasing if you get to close to them they seem intimidate'ed and then show aggresive behavior and begin to strike, and then they wont eat.Good new's on your arrival,i'll look forward to seeing there pic.'s in the future, either on your web-site or here on the forum.
Good Luck With all your Project's ! !
