How to hold a snapper vs an alligator snapper -- photos with John Richards as well!

Here is a pic that I scanned from the Reptiles Magazine, August 2004. It gives you a pretty good idea of how to properly hold the two different species. One word of caution...with a common snapper a pair of leather gloves is always a good idea. I have had several cuts to my fingers and hands (the worst is when it gets the skin at the base of your nail!), from their back claws flailing!

NEVER HOLD ANY ANIMAL BY IT'S TAIL...THIS CAUSES SERIOUS SPINAL INJURY SIMILAR TO WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU WERE TO BE PICKED UP BY YOUR HEAD!
